Our home, now in 3D

Our first floor frames are up.

They were delivered and mostly put up yesterday. I pulled past today and they were putting up joists for the second floor but there is no more frames there yet.

Our steel beams will not be delivered until Friday next week so that will slow things down.

It's not raining. It's pouring.

Today they poured our slab.

It was so exciting to pull around the corner and see the concrete pump in action.

I will try to get back tomorrow morning to get a picture of the completed slab. Here is a pic of the guys in action...

Here it is the following day...

Impressed with my SUPERvisor

I could not resist sneaking back to the block the day after it was scrapped just to check it out all nice and level. I was very surprised to see that all of the piercing had been completed. Today (Sunday) I stopped in on my way past and was shocked that the form work had been completed. I am so impressed with our site supervisor. He told me he had only picked up our file on Wednesday. Fingers crossed for nice weather this week. We had rain Saturday but today was nice and Sunny.

Action!!!!!

The kids had to be dropped off early at school this morning so I thought I might drive by the block on my way to work. So glad I did.

We not only have a sight fence, they were scrapping away out our block. I even got to meet my sight supervisor who had just pulled up.

I was so excited. SS said I will be surprised how quick things go from here. I really hope so.

Less than 20 days

We are so close to something really happening now.

On 28 March we received our Construction Certificate. Unfortunately we were not ready to move to the next stage, construction, because we still needed a commencement letter from the Bank.

Masterton's insurance policies were due to expire on 31 March and our Bank would not give the go ahead until new insurance policies could be confirmed (fair enough). Masterton were unable to supply the new documents until 2 April and then finally the commencement certificate reached Masterton on 8 April.

From 8 April, Masterton now have 20 working days until they must commence construction. This does not include rain days. Day 1 it rained, Day 2, it rained, Day 3, no rain until the afternoon and when a did a drive around the estate (our Friday activity), there was work going on in the other Masterton Villina so I am not counting that as a rain day.

We have had our red pegs since 21 March and I am looking forward to seeing the land scrapped soon.

Choices and Approvals

Well a lot has happened since my last post and yet I have nothing to show for it.

In January we finalised all of our tile, air con, carpet and bamboo flooring and kitchens selections finalised. We then had our 'Colours' appointment with Masterton where we finalised all our internal and external selections. Everything from the front door to the bathroom taps. I am quite proud that we did not spend too much on everything.

We changed our bamboo flooring to a darker finish.

We changed the kitchen a few times. Even since these plans,we switched to a freestanding oven and cooktop and an undermount sink. We deleted the canopy range hood and went for an inbuilt one. We also made the fridge space deeper by pushing that part of the wall back. Nobody from the kitchen company was able to meet with us which was disappointing. Not sure what extras they could have offered.

Our plans were finally approved by Liverpool Council last Friday (28/02/2014). So the plans are now back to Masterton to finalise constructions plans and we are waiting for our final tender to be completed so we can then validate. We also need to get a commencement certificate from the bank.

Masterton also ordered our 'peg out' on Wednesday. I am really looking forward to seeing the four red pegs that will mark the excavation site. I will finally get to see that things are happening. No doubt I will post some rather boring photos for you when it happens. In anticipation of the peg out, we went to the block on Sunday and mowed it. Our's is the only mowed site, haha.

Off to council, finally! Tiles and movement at the estate.

What a crazy and stressful month.

We had quite a few dramas trying to get all of the paperwork prepared and sent in to council. Things certainly did not move as we would have liked. We had to keep following things up with them and were  reassured time and again that everything would be done "next week". After a month of added delays, we were promised that we would lodge to council before the Christmas break. Then, the afternoon before our deadline, we were sent an email stating that it was not going to happen.

While we had been informed that we were just waiting for the address to be changed on some paperwork, it turned out that we were still waiting for Basix and landscape plan as well. I contacted management who were straight onto getting everything sorted. True to their word, we were lodged to council on Masterton's last day of the year.

No we can just hope that we get approval before Masterton come back in 2014. That would be a great Christmas present.

Today we had our tile appointment with Don's Tiles at Narellan. We ended up upgrading the kitchen splashback which was not too expensive. We also upgraded wall tiles in the main bath and ensuite and the floor and feature tiles in the ensuite. Then we made the main bath and ensuite floor to ceiling tiles.

Here are our tile selections:

We could not do out floor selection today as there were no consultants available. I had chatted to them before though so had a fair idea. I grabbed the samples to try against the tiles...

I may switch my laundry/powder room tile to the same used in the main bath??? We are going back to Don's on 17/01/2014 to sign off so we have time to think.

Now we can relax over Christmas before air conditioning, alarm, kitchen and furnishings appointment on 15/01/2014 and our colours appointment on 30/01/2014.

Back at our block there is action happening around us. The first slab was commenced around the corner by a private builder with defence houses scraping their sites shortly after. It will be interesting to watch the landscape change.
